I grew up with an affinity for clothes. Instead of playing in my mom’s closet, I was always admiring it. The way her “grown up” clothes felt to the touch and how classy everything looked. Then I began growing up and I still loved how the fabrics felt but I saw how they made me feel too. A young me soon realized clothes showed who I was, and the power an outfit can give in the right moment to the right person. The confidence the right piece can give you is unparalleled.

I was 14 when I decided I wanted to pursue fashion as a career because I wanted everyone to know that feeling. Before I knew it, I was sitting in fashion classes at Mississippi State in a room full of people who were just as passionate about the industry as I was. After graduation, I found myself working for a major, upscale department store. My first client was a woman who was leaving her abusive husband of 13 years and needed a suit for court. She left the store beaming with excitement for her new life with several options for a hard week. I was hooked. Over the next 4 years, I spent my days meeting women from all walks of life. I helped them find outfits for weddings, first dates, funerals, prom, and everything in between. I watched as women left feeling better about themself than they did when they first came in and so excited about their newest purchase.

My hope for Papillon is that it will turn into a community of women who are able to find clothing that they truly love but also find confidence in themselves. Being a woman is powerful. I hope that we are able to help you embrace that. To be your own muse. To own your femininity. To own who you are and not apologize for it. My goal is that you’re able to rely on us for any occasion, anytime. I hope you’re able to turn to us for your mountain high or find comfort in us for your valley low. Whether you spend your days in a boardroom or at home chasing little ones. We think you’re incredible and you deserve clothes that make you feel incredible.

Here’s to being badass women.
